Urban Campsite Amsterdam – Unique Place to Stay in Amsterdam

Richie loves camping and I love boutique hotels and we both love anything that is unique, artsy. While we were planning for our trip to Netherlands, we came across this beautiful place where both camping and unique artistic objects meet – Urban Campsite Amsterdam (UCA). It is not a normal campsite though it has all amenities for its guest, but it is way more than that. It is differently beautiful and crazy. Special works of art has been furnished as a hotel room. Staying in such a piece of art is a lifetime experience. We had great fun!

Day-Trip to Texel from Amsterdam

We had never heard of Texel until lately just a few weeks before we visited the Netherlands. We loved the pictures of this beautiful island over the Internet. Hence we planned to include Texel in our plan by pushing in days in Amsterdam. Texel is a beautiful island in the north of the Netherlands, away from the crowd of tourists. It is a well-kept secret among the Dutch people who love to spend their weekend vacations here. It is just 2 h away from Amsterdam, so can be easily done in a day-trip. Though after visiting this hidden gem, we advise you to spend at least a night or two there.

Day-Trip to Kinderdijk and Rotterdam from Amsterdam

Richie and I were holidaying in the Netherlands for 5 days. The Netherlands is a relatively small country in Europe, but packed with many great attractions, that you can see in day-trips from Amsterdam. We planned like this: the first 2 days exploring Amsterdam city, then 1 day-trip to Kinderdijk Windmills and Rotterdam, 1 day-trip to Texel, and the last day relaxing in an unusual accommodation in Amsterdam. This particular blog will help you decide how to plan a visit to the UNESCO-listed Kinderdijk Windmill Complex and the funky city of Rotterdam while keeping Amsterdam as a base of your day-trip.

Two Days in Amsterdam for First-Timers

Explore Netherlands in 5 Days – Day 1

Last July, Richie and I planned for our first Eurotrip and the countries we chose were Netherlands and Spain. The charming country of Netherlands is famous for its Dutch windmills, world-class museums, tulips, wooden shoes, and canals to say the least. This small country is packed with many great attractions – we explored the capital city of Amsterdam for 2 days, visited the windmills of UNESCO-listed Kinderdijk and the northern Wadden island of Texel as day trips from Amsterdam for the next 2 days, and spent a night in a unique place in Amsterdam. You can certainly mix and match destinations, activities, and attractions depending on your interests and travel priorities.

Dubai Sightseeing During Flight Layover

What to See in Dubai in 4 Hours?

Dubai is an interesting amalgamation of deep-rooted traditions and aspiring modern vision wrapped into distinctly reminiscent desert magnificence. I and Richie – my craziest travel buddy – were planning for our Eurotrip to the Netherlands and Spain, when it clicked our mind to make a 8-h stopover in Dubai so that we can get around the city briefly. If you consider the time for clearing the immigration and departing from and arriving at the airport on time for the next flight, you would be left with only 4 hours to explore the city, and we made good use of that time. This was our first-time experience in a Middle-East country and it was splendid.

Weekend Getaway in the Rajbari Bawali, India

Day 1 – Classic Accommodation in the Rajbari

Spending a weekend in the Rajbari Bawali where once the Zamindars of Bengal, India led lives of wealth and privilege sounds interesting. The Zamindars, also called as Nawabs or Thakurs, were elite people who lived in finest luxury. Their lives were an unique fusion of battles, conspiracy, art, love, music, literature, dance, and also business. The Rajbari, meaning a mansion or palace, at Bawali, near Kolkata – the former capital of India. It dates back to more than 250 years ago, which ruined after India’s independence in 1947. But lately, this almost dilapidated mansion has been restored to a heritage hotel and now open to guests. I and Richie had a wonderful time spent over the weekend in the lap of history, in a world away in time.

24 Hours in Sukhumvit, Bangkok

Surviving the Ultimate Full Moon Party and Songkran in Days – Day 6

Every few months, I end up spending a full day in Bangkok en route to some other destination. Richie had his flight on Sunday, so we thought of spending a night in Bangkok on Saturday and get our city fix. Though you can cover distant places in Bangkok and visit the must-sees, but we decided to stick to Sukhumvit only –  a popular district in Bangkok filled with hotels, restaurants, malls, nightclubs, and also the naughty Soi Cowboy and Nana Entertainment Plaza.

Songkran Celebration in Chiang Mai

Surviving the Ultimate Full Moon Party and Songkran in 7 Days – Day 4

Songkran is the festival of Thai New Year celebrated from April 13-15. The word “Songkran” means transformation, which marks the change in weather – the arrival of spring. It marks the new year for many other South and South-East Asian countries, for example, many parts of India, also Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Burma, and Laos. In Thailand, Songkran is celebrated with splashing water and putting dry powder on others all across the country, but the maximum fun takes place in Chiang Mai – so we are here!

Lunatic Full Moon Party in Koh Pha Ngan

Surviving the Ultimate Full Moon Party and Songkran in 7 Days – Day 2

Koh Pha Ngan is known as party island. Its infamous full moon parties have made this island very popular, but you must know that you can still attend a beach party there even when it is not a full moon, because there may be a half-moon party going on or a no-moon party or just any party for any excuse! But madness of a full moon party is incomparable, which is why I and Richie are here.
